An email is small, but billions of them are not. Images in signatures, especially animated GIFs, make every message heavier to send, store and load.
In our Greenprint example, a company of 60 people sending 5 emails a day each produces an estimated 780 kg CO2e a year from emails carrying a GIF. Removing the image takes a few seconds per person.
Three things you can do today
- Replace images in your signature with plain text and a link.
- Send a link to a shared file instead of an attachment.
- Unsubscribe from newsletters you never open.
